These Terms & Conditions outline the agreement between you (the “Client”) and Paula Proofs and Edits (the “Service Provider”) for proofreading and editing services. By commissioning work, you agree to the following:

• I offer proofreading and copy editing services for academic, professional, and personal documents.
   
• The level of service (proofreading vs. editing) will be agreed upon before work begins.
   
• Proofreading ensures correction of grammar, spelling, punctuation, and consistency. Copy editing may include improvements to style, clarity, and readability.
   

• All fees are agreed in advance, based on word count, document type, and turnaround time.
   
• Quotations are valid for 30 days.
   
• Additional work requested outside the agreed scope may incur extra charges.
   

• An invoice will be issued upon completion (or, for larger projects, staged payments may be agreed in advance).
   
• Payment is due within 14 days of the invoice date.
   
• Accepted payment methods include bank transfer / PayPal
   
• Late payments may incur a fee of 5% of the invoice total per month overdue.
   

• I will agree a completion date with you before starting work.
   
• While I always strive to meet deadlines, I cannot be held responsible for delays caused by circumstances beyond my control.
   
• Urgent or rush jobs may be subject to a surcharge.
   

• You are responsible for providing documents in a clear, accessible format (e.g., Word or PDF).
   
• Final responsibility for the accuracy, originality, and content of the work remains with you, the Client.
   
• Proofreading/editing does not guarantee publication, grade improvement, or acceptance by third parties (e.g., academic institutions or publishers).
   

• All documents are handled with strict confidentiality.
   
• I will not share your work with third parties without your consent.

• If you cancel before work has begun, no fee will be charged.
   
• If you cancel after work has started, you will be invoiced for the portion of work completed.
   
• Once a project is fully delivered, refunds are not available.
   

• While every effort is made to ensure accuracy and quality, Paula Proofs and Edits is not legally liable for any loss, damage, or claims arising from the use of the edited/proofread material.
   
• Responsibility for the final use of the document lies with the Client.
   

• These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
   
• Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
